Meth, Oxy, Heroin Seized During Drug Sting Operations In Maryland, Sheriff Says

A West Virginia man was among more than two dozen arrested by members of the Frederick County Sherif's Office following an investigation into crime in the area, police say.

During separate seizures on Wednesday, April 10 and Thursday, April 25, deputies and investigators conducted several operations that led to the recovery of drugs, a weapon, and landed 14 people behind bars.

In total, investigators recovered 1.5 grams of methamphetamine; 5.1 capsules of fentanyl; 33 grams of cocaine; 11 Oxycontin pills; 16.4 grams of heroin and one handgun,.

Among those arrested was Donald Denton Hamlin, 44, of Morgantown, who was taken into custody and charged with: 

  • Wearing, carrying, or transporting a weapon;
  • Use of a gun during the commission of a crime;
  • Use of a weapon as a separate crime;
  • CDS: Possession with intent to distribute cocaine or opium;
  • CDS: Possession of cocaine, opium, or their derivatives;
  • CDS: Possession of synthetic narcotics;
  • CDS: Possession of paraphernalia.

He is being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.

"Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office was aided by members of the Frederick County Department of Fire & Rescue Services as part of the COAST (Community Outreach and Support Team) that links individuals experiencing a substance use disorder, or addiction, to available treatment and recovery resources within the community," officials said.

"A total of four individuals were connected with COAST during these operations."
